From January 28th to February 1st the Spanish capital, Madrid, hosted the International Tourism Fair FITUR 2015, which this year celebrates its 35th anniversary. Spanish tourism sector is experiencing an extremely important point, because it has a growing impact on the national economy. The popularity of Spain as a tourist destination is growing year by year. According to the latest UNWTO World Tourism Barometer, Spain is the third most visited country in the world.
“Tourism is a State policy in Spain”, said Prime Minister Rajoy stressing that the sector accounts for 10.9% of Spain’s GDP and generates one in 9 jobs, and as such “is a strategic sector for both the present and the future of our economy”.
FITUR 2015 have received the representatives of more than 9,400 companies, which is 4% more than the year before. There were about 690 direct exhibitors from 165 countries. These figures show that tourism is an important component in the economy of Spain which maintains a lot of companies and businesses doing a great efforts to develop the sector.
